LA

Brian and I are spending this Thanksgiving week in LA, and although the trip started out a little rocky (Hollywood Blvd. is as stressful for parents with an infant as Times Square), today we were able to do some seriously parent-style vacationing, which is to say that we spent over 2 hours just hanging out on the beach with Elliott and explaining things like waves, the ocean, seagulls, and how sand starts as big rocks and becomes the small measurements of hour glasses. We even rode a trolley. We will never wear fanny packs, but today we rode the trolley. (And Elliott loved it.)

We will write a post in the next couple of weeks about the things we've learned while traveling with an infant (and the big differences between traveling with an infant of 3 months versus 7), but for now, let me just say that vacationing used to be about our exploration, but now (and probably for the better part of the next decade) it is all about Elliott's. We love seeing him try new things, explore outside of his comfort zone, and make new friends everywhere he goes.

Oh, LA. We may be New Yorkers and Alaskans at heart, but we are enjoying the beautiful, bright November days here. (Thanks.)
